CDG Calls For Entries For Furniture Design Award

Apr 05, 2017

SAN DIEGO — Calling all creative furniture designers: The Contemporary Design Group is accepting entries for the 2017 Edward Haimsohn Design Award.

The award, named for CDG co-founder Edward Haimsohn, recognizes manufacturers producing outstanding and original furniture designs. Entries received before April 17 will receive signage for use at the April 22-26 High Point Market and will be promoted by CDG, a national association of independent home furnishings showrooms specializing in modern and contemporary design.

“It’s a great marketing opportunity for anyone creating great new pieces to promote their designs to the modern furniture shopper,” CDG Executive Director Alicia Mendez said in a release. “Getting additional exposure at High Point Market, when you have a chance to get buyers to your showroom, is an obvious plus.”

A panel of judges will evaluate entries on originality, creativity, consumer appeal, use of materials, functionality and manufacturing execution. The winner and finalists will be announced in December at CDG’s annual conference. Mendez said the location of the conference will be announced soon.

Past winners include Beam Lamp by Francois Caron for Trica Furniture; Caruso Audio Cabinet by Paolo Capello for Miniforms; and Corridor Media Cabinet by Matthew Weatherly for BDI.
